Pediatric Medical Education Grant Program

Purpose: To promote and support innovative educational scholarship that is designed, implemented, and evaluated by faculty and trainees in the Department of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School. Scholarly projects must enhance pediatric medical education and may be in any category of educator activity, including curriculum development, learner assessment, mentorship and advising, teaching activities, and educational leadership and administration.

Eligibility: The principal investigator and any co-PIs must be faculty members or trainees of the department at the time of application and funding of the grant. Coaching and mentorship are important to our department’s faculty and trainees, so each grant application should include information about the principal investigator’s project support team.

Funding:

  • $1000 - $5000
  • 2 - 5 grants funded annually

Timeline:

  • Application deadline is March 31
  • Project review and funding announcements by May 31
  • Project funding to continue through the conclusion of the following academic year

Grant Application & Selection:

  • Application guidelines
    • Each project should have at least one identified faculty member and trainee.
    • Each project must have clear, measurable deliverables and outcome measurements (or assessment).
    • Each project must have a proposed budget; budget cannot include funding for faculty time.
  • Selection process
    • Applications are reviewed by the Department of Pediatrics’ Educational (PedEd) Leadership Council.
    • Grantees are notified in late Spring of the award decisions.

Output:

  • Awardees must present the work at an educational conference.
  • Awardees should report, at least once, the work-in-progress to the PedEd Council.
